The Besednice Jezkovna locality is one of the most famous Moldavite localities in the world. Jezkovna moldavites are renowned for their unique, hedgehog-like sculpting, often featuring shapes resembling needles or spines, which is why they are called "hedgehogs." These extraordinary shapes were created by natural erosion processes and give the moldavites a distinctive appearance that makes them highly prized by collectors. Thanks to their structure, Besednice Jezkovna moldavites are considered the most beautiful tektites in the world. Moldavites from this locality are generally small; pieces over 10 grams are rare, and those over 20 grams are extremely rare. The locality itself is also relatively small, with a length of approximately 250 meters and a maximum width of 80 meters. Current situation Jezkovna is now a closed and strictly protected area, declared a natural monument. Moldavites from this area are generally only available through specialized dealers, which increases their collector's value. Note This moldavite comes from official extractions in Besednice, where damage to the stones often occurred. The damaged polished surfaces were subsequently treated with acid to achieve a matte finish. These repaired moldavites are classified as lower quality, an aspect that is also reflected in the price, making them significantly cheaper and more accessible than undamaged specimens. These stones are suitable for both jewelry and collectors who want very beautiful pieces at a lower price, while still retaining the deep and unique structure of Besednice Jezkovna moldavites.
