Hassi el Biod 002 Meteorite – Exceptional pallasite from Algeria The Hassi el Biod 002 meteorite is a rare pallasite discovered in 2021 in Algeria. The total mass of the meteorite is 10 kg and consists of five identical fragments. Unique composition and classification This meteorite is exceptional in its composition and does not correspond to any known group of pallasites. Hassi el Biod 002 has a unique composition of olivine and oxygen isotopes, which sets it apart among known pallasites. Comparison with the Milton meteorite Together with the Milton meteorite from Missouri, it belongs to a rare group of pallasites that do not contain pyroxene. However, no genetic link between them has been proven, as they differ both in olivine composition and oxygen isotopes.
