Myths and False Beliefs about Moldavite
There are some truly fanciful claims circulating online about moldavite. We've collected ten of the most common and sifted through them, separating fact from legend — with a touch of lightness, but always with honesty.
Do you know of a belief that isn't listed? Do you want to know if a claim is true or false? Write to us at info@moldavite.it and we'll gladly answer you. Here are the ten myths we most often debunk:
"Besednice moldavite is the most powerful"
The RealityBesednice is one of the most beloved locations for its splendid "hedgehog" sculptures, with long and intricate spikes. It has been depleted since 2008, and its price has risen significantly due to its rarity and beauty — but it is not more "powerful" than moldavite from any other location. Discover the differences between localities.
"Angel Chimes are the most powerful and summon angels"
The RealityAngel Chimes have high internal tension that makes them "chime" if rubbed; they are rare (about 1%) and more fragile. But they are not more powerful than other moldavites, nor do they have anything to do with angels. All about what Angel Chimes are.
"'Museum-grade' moldavite is the best"
The Reality"Museum grade" is an overused term: over 95% of pieces labeled as such are simply A-grade moldavite in excellent condition. To truly be museum grade, it needs at least 3 out of 6 factors: size, minimal damage, remarkable sculpture, primary shape, rare location, rare characteristics. See the grade guide.
"Museum grade has higher energy than B grade"
The RealityIt is said on forums and videos that "museum-grade" moldavite has more potent or refined energy. The grading system only describes damage and rarity: a higher-grade stone does not have better energy than a regular-grade specimen.
"This moldavite is SUPERCHARGED, ENHANCED, and ACTIVATED"
The RealitySome sellers use creative adjectives — charged with crystal grids, enhanced with "unique powers in the world," activated in sacred temples — and charge 2–5 times the price. Beware: no moldavite is more "charged" than another. Learn how to recognize authentic moldavite.
"With moldavite, you'll see aliens or interdimensional beings"
The RealityThe myth arises from the extraterrestrial origin of the stone. But among millions of specimens and owners, there are only very few accounts, without proof or recurring patterns. Some report more vivid dreams: nothing to worry about.
"You must feel the 'Moldavite flush', otherwise there's something wrong with you"
The RealityThe term describes the intense reactions of some people (heat, lightness, tremor). But everyone is different: there is nothing wrong with you if you don't react like others. Do not compare your experience with that of others.
"Moldavite is the gem that fell from Lucifer's crown"
The RealityIt's a fascinating backstory, but moldavite is a tektite born from a meteorite impact. Tektites exist all over the world and have been studied for decades; the green is more evident due to its translucency. Other legends can be found in the curiosities.
"Moldavite is the stone of this or that legend"
The RealityWe are very good at making connections: moldavite has been associated with almost every green stone in every existing myth and book. These are pleasant stories, but often remain unsubstantiated theories, amplified by forums.
"Investing in moldavite will make you money: the price always goes up"
The RealityPrices do go up, especially as demand and scarcity increase. But the average weight is about 4 g, and there are millions of pieces from 1–9 g: the profit on these is minimal (a few euros per gram over a few years) and, between selling commissions, you might not make any profit at all. Understand what truly matters in evaluation.
In summary: beware of those who promise extraordinary powers or "superior" energies to sell at high prices. The spiritual properties of moldavite belong to tradition and folklore and do not constitute medical or therapeutic indications; authenticity and provenance, however, are verifiable facts — and it is on those that we help you.
