Abadla 004 Meteorite – Rare primitive achondrite of winonaite type Abadla 004, discovered in 2023 near the city of Bechar, Algeria, belongs to the rare category of primitive achondrites, specifically the winonaite group. Its composition is similar to chondrites, particularly H and E types. These meteorites show signs of metamorphism, partial melting, brecciation, and often contain relict chondrules, characteristic of their chemical and mineralogical composition that lies between H and E chondrites. The total mass of Abadla 004 is approximately 1.65 kg, with typical mineral grain sizes ranging from 200 to 500 micrometers. It also contains inclusions of troilite, schreibersite, and daubreelite. The meteorite shows clear signs of shock, indicating exposure to high pressures and temperatures during its origin or journey through space.
