G. Okel in a field near the village of Maslyanino in the Novosibirsk region, Western Siberia. The main mass weighing approximately 26 kg is the only recorded esemplare.\nClassification\nIt is an meteorite ferroso of the so-called IAB complex, specifically a fine octahedrite with a metallic matrix and the presence of silicate inclusions. Maslyanino contains 12.4 % nickel and trace elements such as germanium, gallium, and iridium. The matrix consists of metallic phases – kamacite and taenite – with a well-developed Widmanstätten pattern, as well as sulfide phases (troilite) and various silicate inclusions such as olivine, pyroxenes, plagioclase, and graphite.\nScientific significance\nMaslyanino is particularly interesting because of the presence of silicate inclusions within an meteorite ferroso – a relatively rare phenomenon typical of the IAB meteorites.
