It was discovered in 2024 near Ajdabiya, Libya, with a total weight of 33.18 kg, divided into four large fragments weighing 12.6 kg, 10.8 kg, 6.0 kg, and 3.78 kg. The outer surface of the meteorite is light brown and altered due to long exposure to desert conditions. There is no fusion crust present. When cut and polished, the fragments reveal white feldspar and various clasts embedded in a fine grey-green matrix. Analyses show that Oued El Hamim 001 contains plagioclase, clinopyroxene, and olivine, along with small inclusions of chromite, ilmenite, and troilite.
